Minutes of the Meeting of the Rush Township Board of Supervisors

A meeting was held at the Rush Township Municipal Building on June 15, 2017 at 7:00 pm. In attendance were: Chairman Shawn Gilbert, Vice Chairman Robert Leibensperger, Treasurer/Secretary Katie Orlick and Bill McMullen. Supervisor Jeaninne Motroni was absent due to work obligation.

Chairman Shawn Gilbert called the meeting to order.

Pledge of Allegiance was recited.

Police Report – Chief Lipsett’s police report for the month May of 2017 was read by Chairman Gilbert. A motion was made to approve the police report. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Minutes of Previous Meeting– A motion was made to approve the previous meeting minutes of May 18, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the treasurer’s report as of May 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Approval of current township and sewer bills thru June 14, 2017 – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the municipal reports thru June 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Approval of municipal reports (sewer, road, Arro, Prodesign) – A motion was made by Chairman Gilbert to approve the municipal reports for May 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Old Business – None.

NEW BUSINESS

1. A motion to approve our Hometown Fire Police to assist Tamaqua Borough with their Rubber Duck Race on Sunday, June 18, 2017 from 1-4 pm on Elm Street. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

2. A motion to accept Lance Frantz’s resignation from the road department as of May 22, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

3. A motion to accept Christopher Conarty’s resignation as a part time police officer, as of May 25, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

4. A motion to accept Joseph David’s resignation as a part time police officer, as of June 2, 2017. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

5. A motion to hire Lonnie Ahner for the Road Department, retroactive June 12, 2017 at a pay rate of $16/hr. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

6. A motion to hire Ronald Neifert for the Road Department, starting Monday, June 26, 2017 at a pay rate of $16/hr. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

7. Motion to authorize Chairman Gilbert to execute the Land Development Improvements & Maintenance Agreement between AutoZone Development, LLC and the Rush Township Board of Supervisors. Vice Chairman Leibensperger approved, Chairman Gilbert seconded. Katie Orlick polled the board. All members voted in favor of the motion, motion carried.

Public Comment – NONE

Supervisors Comment– Rush Township Office will be closed, Tuesday, July 4, 2017. Monday’s garbage pickup will be its regular pick up, however, Friday’s garbage pickup will be Saturday, July 8, 2017.

Chairman Gilbert adjourned the meeting at 7:10 p.m.
